The Helen O’Grady system is a developmental drama system that has taken the world by storm. Founded in Australia in 1979, the system is widely used in over 25 countries across the globe.
It is the world’s largest after-school drama programme which has widely gained acceptance by over one million children across the world as a system that is unique and enhances the learning process in a valuable, fun and inclusive manner. Our techniques are unique and make learning wholesome and fun while aiding the overall development of the student.
New students will join over 60,000 others from over 25 countries and cultures expressing their individuality in weekly classes. They are given a platform to develop their communication skills; to act as if the world is their stage; to stimulate their creative self and enjoy the freedom to experiment.
Enthusiastic participation in each lesson is encouraged by our teachers. Each lesson is carefully planned and includes: Introductory activities, Speech, Verbal dynamics, Creative movement, Dance, Drama, Language development, Structured improvisation, Dialogue development, Snippets, Scene starters and Mini Scripts.
All our programmes are conducted by qualified Helen O'Grady teachers who undergo regular intensive training. All teachers are trained to develop personal rapport with each student, and our Academy Director attends classes regularly, to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
There are four terms in the Academy year. Students may join at most times during the year.
At the end of the Academy year, students present a short, scripted production. Achievement certificates are awarded to all students for each full year of attendance, with special recognition for other major milestones.
